Meet Cullen Jones: champion athlete, bona fide intellectual, and the face of the most successful water safety program in America.

Jones is best known as a four-time Olympic medalist and the first African American male swimmer to capture a world record. But his contributions to the sport extend far beyond athletic achievement.

Since 2007 he’s advocated policy changes at the highest levels of government, made Make a Splash Tour stops in dozens of cities, given in-the-pool instruction to at-risk kids, and talked directly with families about the importance of basic water skills.

Get the whole story, including Cullen’s history as a self-described ‘tech geek’ and his lifelong interest in fashion, at the USA Swimming Foundation website.
