The Moab landscape is hot and windy, with adventure calling from all directions. The environment makes it an ideal site for Colorado Outward Bound School (COBS), a non-profit that teaches life and survival skills through outdoor adventure programs. COBS has run courses in Moab for 50 years.

But Executive Director Peter O’Neil, who served as a field instructor there in 1977, recalls brutal living conditions. “To call it substandard housing would be an understatement,” said O’Neil.

Those days are gone. Learn how 27 graduate students with limited funding designed and built a breathtaking 3,300 SF flex space in just 19 weeks.
